High-Activity Yeast Screening

FLIM-LIFT enables screening and culture of young and active industrial yeast.

Yeast exhibits significant heterogeneity in activity during growth, and high-activity yeast cells play a critical role in the fermentation process. Scientists can utilize fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy (FLIM) of NAD(P)H to accurately distinguish between young and aged yeast cells. By integrating FLIM with the PRECI SCS Single-Cell Sorter, young and highly active yeast cells can be precisely sorted with minimal damage and subsequently cultured into monoclonal colonies. This approach provides an innovative solution for the efficient screening of high-activity Saccharomyces cerevisiae, offering significant support for its broad applications in both industrial and research fields.
